Bagan’s viewpoint to open to public soon
A newly constructed sightseeing hill in Myanmar’s ancient city, Bagan, is expected to open at the end of February providing access to enjoy sunrise and sunset view over Bagan.
Local newspaper The Voice reported that the construction of view points at Ko Mauk Kan’s bank near West Phwar Saw pagoda is the first pilot project of building view points proposed by Japanese International Cooperation Agency (JICA) to ease load on Bagan temples.
The local authorities set to allow the sightseeing from the new viewpoints at the end of February as the sightseeing hills project was started in January this year.
Some of the pagodas, which were previously allowed for sunset viewing, were in the banning list after the ancient temples were hit by a quake on August 24 last year leaving about 400 pagodas and temples damaged.
