The number of visitors to the ancient city in Myanmar’s Western Rakhine State has dropped even in its peak season according to the local newspaper Daily Eleven.
Tourism authorities from Mrauk-U said the unstable political situation in the state caused a decline in visit to Mrauk-U archeology zone even in the peak season.
Normally, the visitors come to Mrauk-U during their visit to Ngapali beach and this year only free independent travelers visit the site.
Another limitation is the poor transportation in the state and tourists have lack of option to choose transportation services.
Mrauk-U is one of major tourist destinations in Myanmar and its main attractions are temples and ruins around the town.
