Governemnt to nominate two cities for ASEAN award

Myanmar will nominate Naypyitaw and Mandalay to Environmentally Sustainable City (ESC) Award presented by ASEAN.

Local newspaper 7 Day reported that Myanmar selected Naypyitaw and Mandalay from six cities including Yangon, Pathein, Monywa and Mawlamyine to nominate for the award.

The award program is initiated by ASEAN to stimulate, benchmark, and recognize exemplary efforts on environmental sustainability.

The ESC Award aims to make ASEAN cities environmentally sustainable by recognizing exemplary efforts and sharing best indigenous practices to keep cities clean, green, and livable.

The cities in ASEAN countries are chosen for the awards in every two years and Myanmar has got the award for Taunggyi in 2008, Pyinoolwin in 2010 and Yangon in 2014.
