Officials from Myanmar and Thailand signed revised MoU on cooperation in tourism during a discussion on tourism in government and private sectors.

The discussion was held in Kempinski Hotel in Naypyitaw on January 11 and officials from the two sides discussed cooperation between the two countries.

Myanmar signed first MoU on cooperation with Thailand in July 24, 1998, and agreed to cooperate in human resource development, marketing, group tours, disaster response, transborder tours and regional policies.

The revised MoU was signed by minister of hotels and tourism, U Ohn Maung, and Thailand’s tourism and sports minister, H.E Mrs Kobkarn Wattanavrangkul.

The new MoU includes tourism management, legal frameworks, strategic planning, exchanging policies and information, tourism promotion and marketing, establishing travel information central departments, forming a working team with the representatives from both countries and holding the meetings of the committee in both Thailand and Myanmar.
