Group Formed to Preserve Scrolls and Handwritten Manuscripts
The Ministry of Religious Affairs and Culture has formed a group to collect and maintain ancient scrolls and handwritten manuscripts scattered across Myanmar.
The ancient scrolls and manuscripts are important documents for researching the history of Myanmar with accuracy, as well as further developing Myanmar literature. They must be preserved and maintained in order to last a long period of time into the future.
At present, due to incorrect maintenance methods, the ancient scrolls at some monasteries have become damaged or destroyed.
Preserving ancient scrolls and handwritten manuscripts is important for a country such as Myanmar, which attracts foreign visitors with its abundance of ancient cultural heritage.
