A private firm plans to construct a three-star hotel at a new beach in Mon State expecting to attract the international beachgoers especially from Thailand.

Local newspaper The Myanmar Times reported that Aurun Company proposed the state government to build a 100-room hotel at the beach near Kabyarwa village in the state.

It is expecting to start the project implantation this year by using an initial investment of US$12 million by cooperating with a foreign firm.

The project was being pended due to the land rights issues thought the state government gave green light on the project in 2014.

Local businesses expect that the beach will be able to compete with Chaung Tha Beach, a famous beach in Ayeyarwady Region, if the government would provide infrastructure especially roads.
