Japan’s ANA invests in airline joint-venture in Myanmar
Japan’s largest airline company has partnered with a local company to set up a new airline in Myanmar, according to The Myanmar Times’ report.
ANA Holdings and its local partner Golden Sky World Co., Ltd, which is a subsidiary of Shwe Than Lwin Co., Ltd, will use $150,000 for capital investment to start the airline, which is targeted to start international flights in 2018.
ANA has a 49 percent stake of the airline and the local company holds the rest share of the airline, which is tentatively named “Asian Blue”.
It plans to operate only international flights with a couple of airplanes initially and later increase the fleet.
All Nippon Airways, a carrier owned by ANA Holdings, is currently operating a flight between Japan and Myanmar and it is the only airline to offer direct flights between the two countries.
