Second floor at the new airport building of Yangon International Airport was opened for operation five months after the new terminal was officially opened, local newspaper Daily Eleven reported.
Quoting an official from the tender winner Yangon Aerodrome Company Limited (YACL), the newspaper said the second floor of new airport terminal called T1 was opened on September 3.
The second floor of the new three-stories building houses a shopping center which includes the 7800 square metres of retail space with about 50 retail outlets and 3400 sq m of space across about 16 restaurants.
YACL, a US-blacklisted Asia World subsidiary, was awarded a contract to build the US$660 million project on upgrading the Yangon International Airport in 2013.
The company is the investor, management company and building contractor for the new terminal building, as well as the manager of the existing airport.
