Yangon Regional Government and French Institute Myanmar have organized “Flyover Art Project” at Yangon’s six flyovers as a part of the commemoration on 55 years of cultural relations between the two countries.

The pilot project was launched under Myayningone Flyover in the first week of December by reconfiguring and redesigning the public spaces under the bridge highlighting a new vision of urban development.

The project involves greening over the flyover’s pillars with vertical gardens to improve visual appeal and air quality, creating an appropriate area dedicated to sports and cultural activities, highlighting the street art, enhancing safety for pedestrians and implementing new outdoor amenities to shelter community-gathering spots.

The architectural studies were led by Yangon Heritage Trust and Myanmar Architects Association together with the technology university students and local architecture companies.

The project has been carried out since the first week of November and is targeted to finish March next year.

The next decoration is set to implement under Hledan Flyover and the implementation process will be expanded to Bayintnaung Flyover, 8-mile Flyover, Tarmway Flyover and Shwegondaing Flyover.
