Tourism authorities have prepared to promote trip arrangements to Myeik (Mergui) Archipelago in Southern Myanmar at ASEAN Tourism Forum, local newspaper The Voice reported.
An official from ministry of hotels and tourism said Myanmar has already taken a booth at the forum, which will be held in Singapore from January 16 to 20, and decided to promote trips to Myeik located in Tanintharyi Region.
The official said tour agencies have informed the ministry that they are receiving many bookings to the region, which has more than 800 islands and ministry allowed the tourists to visit only 21 of them.
Much of the archipelago has not even yet been thoroughly explored and it is one of the popular tourist destinations in Myanmar.
