Myanmar to propose Shwe Dagon Pagoda to UNESCO’s list

Myanmar is preparing for Shwe Dagon Pagoda to be listed in World Heritage Sites of UNESCO, according to Daily Eleven newspaper.

Thura Aung Ko, minister for religious affairs and culture, said the government is preparing to propose Shwe Dagon pagoda to World Heritage List in 2018-2019 fiscal year.

For preparation, the first meeting with experts from UNESCO will be held soon.

"We will also propose Bagan to UNESCO. The first draft proposal will be send in October," he said.

The minister also said the ministry also expects to send anti-hate speech bill to the parliament within this year and the state counselor office and foreign ministry are reviewing the fourth draft of the bill.
