Myanmar towns in Agoda’s top 10 list

Three towns from Myanmar are listed in Top 10 fastest growing destinations attracting the visitors from Europe according to the recent Agoda’s study. Based on booking data from millions of customers in Europe, Singapore-based accommodation site announced the results of its most recent Travel Smart study on September 13. The Myanmar towns of Mawlamyine, Hpa-an and Hsipaw are among the list of Agoda’s top ten Asian destinations that had seen the highest growth in hotel bookings over the past 12 months. In Myanmar, bookings in Mawlamyine, capital of the Mon State, nearly doubled from 2014 and Hpa-an saw bookings by Europeans up 85% versus last year. “Some amazing destinations in Myanmar are slowly opening up thanks to improving infrastructure. The traditional tourist loop, which used to include just Yangon, Mandalay and Bagan, is expanding,” said Errol Cooke, Vice President, Partner Services of Agoda. Three cities in Japan: Wakayama, Takayama and Nara, are also listed and the rest four are Siquijor Island from Philippines, Koh Rong from Cambodia , Bromo from Indonesia and Redang Island from Malaysia.
