State Counsellor’s art piece to be auctioned
An artwork created by State Counsellor Aung San Suu Kyi will be auctioned to raise the fund for her late mother’s foundation.
Turning to difficult days into an art form, Suu Kyi drew the picture in 2009 when she was under house arrest by former regime.
The Nobel laureate illustrated metal mesh fencing, security guard hut, Ina Lake and a fish in her piece with watercolor and pastel.
The auction on the 24 cm x 16 cm picture will be held on November 25 at Sedona Hotel from 6:30 pm to 9:00 pm and the minimum bid starts at $5,000.
All the proceed received will be donated to Daw Khin Kyi’s Foundation, which was established in 2010 by Suu Kyi in loving memory of her mother.
The foundation is promoting health, education and living standards of the people of Myanmar.
