Tourism authorities suggests to arrange tours to Naypyitaw
Ministry of hotels and tourism sent official letter to tourism associations suggesting to include one-night trip to Naypyitaw in arranging tour packages in the country.
Local newspaper 7 Day reported that the ministry sent the letter to Union of Myanmar Travel Association (UMTA) on October 27 and mentioned that the authorities have prepared the country’s capital to become a green city by supporting with the required infrastructure and also arranged for the visit to the parliament buildings.
Thet Lwin Toh, chairman of UMTA, said the majority of the tourists came to Myanmar usually visit Yangon, Mandalay and Bagan as their priorities and only visit Naypyitaw for business purpose.
Though the hotel room charges are reasonable, he added that it will take time to promote the city as a tourist destination successfully as the cost of transportation is high.
Some travel agencies said there are difficulties to include Naypyitaw in the tour packages as it is not attractive to the foreign visitors who want to explore Myanmar’s culture and heritage sites like Mandalay and Bagan.
