ASEAN-Japan Center last week organized a tourism promotion seminar aiming to contribute to the sustainable tourism in Myanmar by attracting Japanese tourists.
Local based The Myanmar Times reported that the seminar was held at Novotel Yangon Max Hotel on March 28 and about 80 participants from tour operators, hotels and travel agents.
U Kyaw Min Htin, executive committee member of Myanmar Tourism Marketing Committee, said at the event that the number of Japanese visitors was increased about 11 percent in 2016 compare to 2015 but the majorities were business travelers.
Targeting to Japanese high-end tourists, he suggested that Myanmar should promote areas such as Chin State, northern Myanmar, beaches and Myeik archipelagos.
