Guest houses at a bat cave which has potential to attract more visitors to the area are still under construction and expected to be ready to receive travelers in April according to Sagaing Region Tourism Development Committee. The cave is located on the Shwebo-Myitkyina Highway.

U Than Htay, member of the committee said, “At the moment, there is no accommodation for overnight stays there but necessities are now being prepared with the construction of guest houses. Exhibition booths about the bat cave are already on display for enabling travellers to learn more about the caves.”

When the construction work is done, we expect the area to become an attraction for travellers and we will have an official launching event, he added.

The bat cave is natural attraction and located five miles east of the highway. The area is being established as a destination while promoting tourism in Sagaing Region as a whole. The exhibit currently open at the caves is open to visitors during the day time and has 280-year-old timber logs, skeletons and horns of animals, and forest flowers on display.
