Morisaki Win, a Japanese film actor
and singer of Myanmar descent, was appointed as brand ambassador of Myanmar
tourism industry for Japanese market by Myanmar Tourism Federation (MTF) last
week according to the Ministry of Hotels and Tourism.
The 28-year-old Morisaki Win, also
well-known as Ah Win among the Myanmar youths, is the lead vocalist of PrizmaX, a J-pop idol boy
band managed by Stardust Promotion and he has appeared in films and TV dramas
in his home country Myanmar as well as in a 2018 Hollywood film “Ready Player
One” directed by Steven Spielberg.
Sources in the Myanmar tourism
industry gave positive comments saying that as he was appointed as the tourism
ambassador, there might be better opportunities in the Japanese tourism expos
to come as well as more potential arrivals of Japanese travellers to Myanmar.
“Today, the young are most of the travellers
in the global tourism trend. We see most of them are under-35. I believe
Morisaki Win is able to support and promote Myanmar tourism industry through
increasing number of Japanese travellers to Myanmar,” said U Yan Win, chairman
of MTF at the event of appointing the film actor as tourism ambassador.
After the appointment, Morisaki Win
is to do tourism promotion activities inclusive of JATA Tourism Expo 2018 to be
held in Japan soon representing Myanmar tourism industry in Japanese market.
Currently, Myanmar has received a
low number of Japanese tourist arrivals according to the ministry’s statements.
The Myanmar authorities already announced that they would grant visa free entry
to travellers from Japan and South Korea starting from October in the high
season this year.
