Travel Hubs: A new initiative launched to connect travellers with local tourism services

Myanmar’s most respected travel website has teamed up with INGO Business Innovation Facility to establish the country’s first Travel Hubs in Hpa-an and Dawei.

Travel Hubs aim to give more comprehensive, on-the-ground information and connections to travellers in the locality and assist them with booking guides, transport and accommodation. Displays at the Travel Hubs present tourists with options of activities to do, sights to see and experiences to have in and around the area.

The Hubs also support local businesses and tourism services by sharing information about them and connecting tourists to them directly without any cost.

In Hpa-an, where the Travel Hub is located in Veranda Cafe near Kanthaya Lake, one can book a guided tour of the famous caves with local English students for example. But lesser known activities around Hpa-an are also listed as options – namely visiting a traditional weaving workshop and learning to weave.

The Dawei Travel Hub is located in Tavoy Kitchen, a restaurant just off the main street in the town and it offers travellers information and facilities for making bookings for Dawei as well as for the rest of Myanmar.

It is planned for more Travel Hubs to be established around Myanmar in the future.
